Race Recap | 24–25 July 2026

Another exciting weekend of racing for Triathlon Academy athletes! 🇪🇪💙

This time our team travelled to Otepää, Estonia, to compete in one of the strongest and best-organized triathlon events in the region. The race is part of the Nordic Cup series and featured a super sprint format on Otepää’s famously demanding course.

Known as Estonia’s “sports capital,” Otepää offers a challenging course with hilly cycling and running sections, making it a true test of both fitness and race tactics. To make things even more interesting, the water temperature reached 22.5°C, meaning the swim was held without wetsuits.

For our young athletes, this was not just another race—it was an opportunity to gain valuable international racing experience against some of the strongest junior athletes in the region.

🇪🇪 Otepää Triathlon 2026

🏊 375 m • 🚴 10 km • 🏃 2.5 km

Results:

🥇 Marta Gustiņa — 38:40
🥇 1st place in her age group
🏅 4th place overall among all girls and women

We are especially proud of Marta’s performance. Latvian athlete Beāte Jansone claimed the overall victory, while Marta finished 4th overall, an outstanding achievement at such a high-level international event. It clearly shows her continued progress and ability to compete among the strongest athletes.

Emīls Stalažs — 38:20

Ēriks Retenais — 41:48

Rūdolfs Āboliņš — 43:07

For Emīls, Ēriks and Rūdolfs, this race provided invaluable experience. Competing in an international Nordic Cup event at this stage of their junior careers is a major challenge, and they handled it with confidence, determination and great racing spirit.

The demanding bike course, technical climbs and uphill sections during the run made every finish well earned.

🏊 150 m • 🚴 4 km • 🏃 1 km

Results:

Nora Gučanoviča — 23:35

Elza Sāra Zariņa — 21:22

Marats Budjko — 20:40

Our younger athletes also represented the team brilliantly on the shorter course. Each of them raced with determination, gained valuable competition experience and crossed the finish line with excellent performances.

Unfortunately, Katrīna was unable to finish her race. After an excellent swim and bike leg, she crashed while entering the second transition and was forced to withdraw. That’s part of sport sometimes—but we’re certain she’ll come back even stronger at the next race. 💙

Looking ahead

We are incredibly proud of every athlete who represented Triathlon Academy in Otepää.

Weekends like this are exactly why we travel to races of this level—not only for the results, but for the experience, the challenges and the opportunity to race against strong international competition. Every start helps our athletes grow, gain confidence and prepare for even bigger goals in the future.

Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic weekend in Estonia, and we wish all of our athletes continued success throughout the season! 🚀💙
